About Me

“The most effective way to achieve right relations with any living thing is to look for the best in it, and then help that best into the fullest expression.”

J Allen Boone
“Kinship With All Life”

Hi, my name is Corinne Bozsoky, the quote above represents my philosophy when it comes to interactions with any living being. All ideas, opinions, principles and methodologies are yours to take onboard or disregard as you see fit. We are all teachers and students during the course of our lives.

“BUDDY”

I believe every puppy has the ability to become a K9Charmer just like “Buddy” and with proper guidance, patience and persistence, you too will learn how to “charm” your new companion.

As far back as I can remember, during my childhood there were always dogs and horses. I never really took to horses – too big and I was always falling off them – but boy, did I love dogs. I loved dogs so much that by the time I was eight, I had been bitten in the face three times! Of course in those days the response was “ Well young lady, what were you doing wrong? Dogs don’t bite you unless you’re doing something wrong”. My character flaw … I’m a hugger and most dogs don’t like being hugged by strangers. So rather than be terrified by the occasional bite, my love affair with dogs has continued throughout my adult life.

Over my 25 plus years of dealing with dogs, what started as a hobby (Schutzhund in the early 1990’s) became a career in 2002 with the opening of The P.E.T. Academy. Kathy Romer (my Schutzund training buddy and BFF) and I co-founded one of the first behavioural daycare centres in Australia. I am what is known as a “cross-over trainer”, changing from compulsion* based training to positive reinforcement training. Kathy is one of the original Canine Good Citizen instructors (Australia) and I received my Cert IV in Dog Behavioural Training through the Delta Society (Australia) in 2004. I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (Australia) and have attended numerous workshops and seminars over the years. The biggest part of my education however, was spending day after day in a yard full of puppies and dogs at The P.E.T. Academy (P.E.T. stands for Puppy Education and Training). Observing them, discussing and interpreting their interactions was truly an education.

I also practice the art of mindfulness meditation daily and encourage you to do the same. It helps with focus, attention and concentration in all aspects of your life.

Creating the “right relationship” with your new companion should be fun and rewarding. Dogs get on so well with us because we have many things in common. Rather than a “Trainer”, I consider myself a “Social Facilitator” and I want to help people find deeper, more lasting connections with the beings that cross their paths in life.
